Diana Katherine Young

Diana Katherine Young passed peacefully with family at her side on Thursday May 1, 2025. She is preceded in death by her husband Dr Bill Young who passed on December 4, 2020. 

Diana was a supportive wife, mother, sister, and friend. She and Bill owned and operated West Eugene and Pleasant Hill Animal Hospitals for the last fifty years. She attended the University of Colorado before moving to Eugene with Bill in the early 70’s. 

She was an entrepreneur at heart and started Time Solutions, a life coaching and organizational business, long before those ideas were trendy.  Diana and Bill had a successful Amway business that fostered many relationships in the local community and provided opportunities for trips with family and friends.  She was involved with the Republican party in Lane County for many years and even had designs on running for the Slug Queen at the Eugene Celebration (probably just to get Bill riled up). 

Diana was born in Denver, Colorado on March 14, 1946, to Wilbur and Katherine (Stertz) Binder but spent most of her young life in Naturita, Colorado with her two younger brothers, Bill and Chuck Binder. 

She will be remembered for her “pit bull” attitude and never giving up. She loved flowers- especially roses and poppies.   She loved to paint them later in life and grow them in her garden.  She never really mastered electronics, though she may have been exaggerating all these years to get her boys to program her VCRs, microwave clocks, and cell phones.  She was quick-witted and always loved to laugh with the people around her.

She leaves behind two sons and daughters-in-law, Todd (Kathy) and Brad (Heather).  She has five grandchildren: Mason, Makayla, Kellen, Parker, and Kaden- all of whom she bragged about to anyone who would listen. She was so proud of each one of them!

A celebration of her life will be held at New Hope West at 2155 Bailey Hill Road, Eugene, Oregon 97402 on Saturday, May 17th at 11:00 a.m.  Flower arrangements may be delivered to New Hope on Saturday, May 17, between 7:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
