Wilfred "Wil" J. Simoneau, Jr
September 10th, 1943 - May 8th, 2025
Wilfred J "Wil" Simoneau passed away May 8 2025 after a courageous battle with AML, Acute Myeloid Leukemia.
He was born in Wilton, New Hampshire. After visiting for several years
he finally made the decision to move to St Petersburg, Florida in 1971. He alway commentied on the fact when he drove through Orlando, it was the opening weekend of Disney World.
Wil was a 1961 graduate of Wilton High School, He served in the Army where he was stationed in Wurzburg, Germany from 1964 to 1967. He was a florist by trade and attended Rittner School in Boston, Massachusetts and brought his talents to St Petersburg and eventually opened a flower shop on July 1, 1981. This took Wil on a course in life he never imagined as he was elected incredible adventure and he was elected president of The West Coast Florists' Association and then on to become president of The Florida State Florists' Association as well as Southern Retail Florist Association and that was based in Charlotte every fall.
Wil and Joe started an amazing journey together with the flower shop and they also both serviced on several boards in the floral industry. Wil and Joe had some incredible adventures together.. They enjoyed taking cruises and traveling the world where they made lifetime memories together in their 48 years together.
He is survived by: his husband, Joe Slick; his brother, Nelson Simoneau; .his brother in law, Gary Nadeau; and his beloved nieces and nephew, Jennifer (Bobby) Bligh, Kelly (Alex) Loverme and Matt (Katie) Nadeau along with their children: and the many friends and family, all of who were right by his side up until the end.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Loretta Nadeau and his
parents, Wilfred "Sim" and Betty Simoneau.
Funeral Services will take place on Tuesday, May 13, 2025. Friends are invited to gather together for the visitation at St Paul's Catholic Church from 12p-1p. Funeral Mass will begin at 1pm. Following service here in St. Petersburg, he will be interred at Mt Calvary Cemetery in Wilton NH on Friday, May 16,at 2pm.
