“In every hunter’s heart, there is a deep respect for the creatures of the wild, a respect that non-hunters may never comprehend.” – Steven Rinella

Henry “Ribble” Bowen, age 87 of Duffield, VA, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 8, 2025.  Ribble was born on May 23, 1937, in Mabe, VA, to Moscoe and Mary Frazier Bowen.  Ribble was a devoted member of Durhams Chapel Freewill Baptist Church for many years.  In November of 1959, Ribble married Audrey Pruitt and after raising a family together and a beautiful life together, she preceded him in death in February of 2025.

Ribble enjoyed farming, hunting and fishing.  He loved his family, and he cherished every moment with them.  He retired from Eastman Kodak, and he enjoyed selling his vegetables at the local flea market.

Ribble was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 65 years, Audrey Judy Bowen; one brother, Jarl Bowen; and one infant sister.  Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Vickie Bowen; son, Scott Bowen and wife, Judith; granddaughter, Jaclyn Brady and husband, Matt; great grandson, Kit Brady; and many loving nieces, nephews, and other family members.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Durham’s Chapel FWB Church, located at 5297 Mabe Stanleytown Rd, Duffield, VA 24244.

The family will receive friends on Monday, May 12, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Scott County Funeral Home in Weber City.  A funeral service will follow at 7:00 pm with Pastor Terry Rhoton officiating.
