David Hedden Parr, 51, of Charleston, South Carolina, passed away peacefully at home on May 1, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.

David was born in St. Louis, Missouri, and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina. From an early age, he shared a special bond with his father on the golf course—a passion that led him to play collegiate golf for the University of North Carolina at Asheville.

David was a man of many talents and deep curiosity. He loved to tinker in the garage, build useful things, and turn scraps into purpose. Whether solving a problem or crafting something with care, he brought creativity and patience to all he touched.

He found joy in nature—fishing for trout in the creeks and rivers of western North Carolina and stalking redfish in the shallows of the Ashley and Cooper Rivers. He was an avid boater, a passionate fan of Kentucky basketball, horse racing, and Formula One, and always up for a good conversation or a quiet morning on the water.

For seven years, David fought a courageous battle against Multiple Myeloma, surpassing every expectation his doctors gave him. He met each challenge with resilience, grit, and an unwavering determination to live life fully. His strength was matched only by his positivity and refusal to complain.

David is survived by his beloved wife, Caroline Anderson Parr; his cherished children, Hazel Hedden Parr and Bridwell Bulloch Parr; and his devoted parents, Edie and Eric Parr. He leaves behind many extended family members and friends who will carry forward his memory with love and many cherished memories.

A memorial service celebrating David’s life will be held at the Cotton Dock at Boone Hall Plantation in Mt. Pleasant, SC, on Sunday, May 18 at 5:00 in the afternoon followed by a light meal including a few of his favorites so please plan to join us if you are able.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, in support of ongoing research, or The Charleston Bilingual Academy, to support the growth of his children’s school.
