Nancy Annette Moulton
June 26th, 1957 - May 8th, 2025
Nancy Annette Chambon Moulton was born in Colorado Springs on June 26, 1957 to Glenn and Katherine "Bardie" Chambon. She was the youngest of four children in the family. She attended Whittier Elementary School, West Junior High School, and graduated from Coronado High School in 1975. She went on to Pikes Peak Community College and then to the University of Northern Colorado where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree and later became a teacher of Physical Education and Health with the District 11 School District in Colorado Springs.
After school and during the summers Nancy worked with her dad at Surplus City and Glenn’s Army Surplus. She also worked in Green Mountain Falls as a lifeguard at the community pool. She was happiest when engaging in physical activities, i.e. running and swimming. She enjoyed working with kids, and she was a favorite among her many nieces and nephews! She had a childlike streak in her temperament and had fun on their level as much as they, and there are many stories to be told of all the good things she shared with everyone. We all have beautiful memories of time spent with Nancy.
Her life-time best friend was Claire. She and Nancy did so many things together and even had the same piano teacher, playing in piano recitals together at the Fine Arts Center. They were the same age and went to the same church and were inseparable on church mission trips and all other church activities. She was a member of First Baptist Church since she was nursery age and accepted Jesus and was baptized when she was ten years old. Nancy has many other very, very close friends who still honor her today.
Nancy lived in Colorado Springs most of her life. After college, she married Phil Brewer. They lived in Windsor and Fort Collins. In 1984 she was blessed with her daughter, Jillian. They spent time also in Hawaii where her husband owned and operated radio
stations, and Nancy was an important attribute to that business. She helped build a radio station empire in Windsor, Colorado and in Hilo, HI. She was a smart businesswoman and made good investments in the stock market and real estate.
After five years, Nancy and Jillian moved back to Colorado Springs near her parents where she worked with the school district and helped her parents at the surplus store they owned.
Nancy was a very good cook and some of her specialties were of the wild game that she, herself, hunted. “Pheasantini” was her variation of veal parmesan, and she knew how to season the wild game she cooked. She was an avid hunter and fisherwoman. She hunted elk, deer, antelope, pheasant, turkey, and other wild game. She loved ice fishing and fly fishing in the Arkansas River and the lakes near where she lived with her husband, Dave Moulton, whom she married in 1991.
Nancy helped build the beautiful log home in Manitou Springs where they lived until after Jill graduated. In 2004 they moved to Coaldale where she enjoyed being in the mountains and close to nature…bears. The snow plow was becoming more difficult to scrape off the snow in the driveway and road in the winter, so more recently they lived In Colorado Springs during the winter months. In the summer months they spent time at the cabin in Minnesota on Green Lake where they swam, fished, enjoyed boating, and spent time with Dave’s family and friends there. During other seasons they lived in their house in Mexico off the Gulf of California near San Carlos that she also helped build with her own hands. Nancy enjoyed other cultures and learned Spanish living there. Other times, Dave and Nancy enjoyed hunting for arrow heads in Wyoming.
Nancy was an artist! Many of her paintings have been displayed in Glenwood Springs (which was one of her favorite vacation spots), at the International Student offices in Colorado Springs, other commercial venues and in the homes of her family who cherish them.
Another of Nancy’s hobbies was writing. She wrote a book after her bout with lymphoma, which she overcame twenty years ago. She went through her personal Spiritual journey of healing from that disease by believing in and claiming the healing-Scriptures in the Bible. One of the things she wrote about in her book (to be published!) was a dream she had of walking with Jesus, and she had often spoken of seeing Jesus’ feet. Another dream she wrote about was when she was walking up to a door that she started to open. It opened easily, and when it was open, Jesus stood there and said to her, “Oh Nancy, I have been waiting for you!” The Lord had blessed her with that dream, and it was very real to her. She never forgot it.
Nancy had been enduring the effects of the latest disease for the past three years. She was tough as nails and decided to put her life into the hands of God and allowed Him to lead her down a difficult path, but she never forgot to Whom she belonged. She is the victor in the life given to her by our Lord. She stayed by Him without a minute of doubt. What a lovely example of a faithful, surrendered life she is! And, I suppose that at 5:08, on the morning of May 8, 2025 Jesus met her and said to her, “Oh Nancy, I have been waiting for you!”
Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Barton Chambon, her niece Cindy Jo Chambon, her nephew Bradley Wayne Hein, her great nephew, Fox Avery Chambon, her brother-in-law Sid Runyan, and her step-granddaughter Shellese Strickland.
