James "Jim" Rogers

James (Jim) Rogers passed away on April 30th, 2025 in Olympia, Washington surrounded by his family. He was born on April 8th, 1944, in Menomonie, Wisconsin to Lee and Madeline Rogers. The family moved to Olympia in 1957 where he attended school and graduated from North Thurston High School in 1962. He enrolled and served in the Army National Guard from 1964-1970. He met his wife Peggy Clark in 1965, and they married in 1966. They had two children, a son Steve and daughter Kristi.

He had a Phillips 66 franchise from 1967-1968 in Lacey. He went to work for Crown Cork and Seal from 1968-1972. He was then hired at the Olympia Brewing Company in 1974 until he retired in 2002.

Jim was a Corvette enthusiast and bought his first Corvette in 1965. He was a member of Corvettes de Olympia for many years. He loved car shows and won many awards with his cars over the years. He enjoyed traveling with his Corvette buddies across 35 states, including the Corvette plant in Bowling Green, Kentucky. He liked hunting trips with his son, throughout Washington and Montana. He also loved fishing trips, especially to Northern Canada and Westport. He was an avid boater, with some of the family’s fondest memories spent in the Puget Sound.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers: Wayne, Paul and Tom. He is survived by his wife Peggy, son Steve (Cathy) of Lacey, and daughter Kristi of Spokane. Three grandchildren, Alexis (Nikita), Kaela, and Britanie (Darien) and one great grandchild, Kona, all in the Olympia area.

A Celebration of Life for Jim will be held on June 6th at 1pm at the East Olympia Fire Department at 8047 Normandy St. SE, Olympia.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the East Olympia Fire Department for their valiant efforts to save our father and beloved husband.
