Wife Audrey May Johnson Bays proceeded him in death on November 16, 1989
They had four Boys
Calvin D Bays and His Wife Joan Elaine Hartman Bays of Springfield, Oregon
Gregory Allen Bays of Eugene, Oregon - Greg is in an adult care facility with a head injury caused by an auto accident in 1984.
Richard Earl Bays and his wife Marti Templeton-Bays of Junction City, Oregon
Bradley James Bays who proceeded them in death in 1984 due to injuries caused by an auto accident at the age of 14 years
Richard had 9 Grand Children, 22 Great Grand Children and 1 Great Great Grandchild
He served in the Army Air Corps from April 1946 until November 1947. He served his military basic training at Buckley Field in Aurora Colorado. His Advanced Infantry Training in Biloxi Mississippi at Keesler Field. Richard was sent by military transport ship from San Francisco to Pearl Harbor Hawaii for a short time then to Guam. After a year serving in Guam he came back to San Francisco where he was discharged from the military at Camp Stoneman. Richard was very proud of his time served in the United Stated Military, He was very patriotic
Richard worked 2-years from 1947 until 1949 building the Weyerhaeuser plant in Springfield as an apprentice carpenter.
Richard worked at the Fischer Lumber Mill in Marcola from 1949 until 1955.
Richard then worked at the Rosboro Lumber Company from 1955 until his retirement in 1991 as the Lead Electrician
Richard was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Springfield, Oregon where he served on the Benevolence Committee. He was also a member of the Springfield Elks Fraternal Organization
A Funeral Service will be held on Monday May 19, 2025 at Springfield Memorial Gardens
