Laressa Lynn Gutierrez, 24, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with a rare disease. Born to Antonio Gutierrez and Christina Medina, Laressa brought light, love, and faith to the world from the moment she arrived.

From an early age, Laressa displayed a profound selflessness and empathy that touched everyone she met. As a child, she would bring gifts to her teachers as a token of appreciation, a small gesture that reflected the immense kindness within her heart. She had an extraordinary ability to make people feel seen, valued, and comforted. Whether through her warm smile, gentle words, or legendary hugs, Laressa had a divine gift for healing hearts and lifting spirits.

Laressa felt called to become a nurse, inspired by her deep desire to care for others. Though her illness prevented her from attending nursing school, she never wavered in her mission. Instead, she channeled her strength and compassion into serving her community in other ways—volunteering at the Crossfire ministry, local food pantry, uplifting those experiencing hardship, and reminding everyone she encountered that God’s plan, though sometimes difficult, was filled with purpose and grace.

Her unwavering faith was her guiding light. She never complained, never lost hope, and continued to be an inspiration to all around her. Laressa often celebrated her faith through music, attending Christian concerts with her aunts and drawing joy and strength from the songs that spoke to her soul. She also had a deep love for the music of Ed Sheeran, the color purple, and cherished roses—simple, beautiful things that reflected her gentle and vibrant spirit.

Laressa’s life, though short, was filled with meaning, love, and purpose. She taught us all what it means to live selflessly, to love unconditionally, and to trust wholeheartedly in God’s plan. Her hugs—famous for their ability to instantly comfort—were more than an embrace; they were a reflection of her essence: pure, healing, and filled with divine love.

Though Laressa is no longer with us in body, her spirit lives on—in every act of kindness, in every soul she touched, and in the quiet strength she passed on to others. Her legacy is everlasting, and her memory will forever be a part of the lives she changed.

Laressa is preceded in death by her father , Antonio Gutierrez.

Laressa is survived by her loving mother, Christina Medina, her stepfather William Cunnigham, her brother Lorenzo Romero, extended family, and countless friends and community members who were blessed to know her.

In her honor, let us continue to love fiercely, give generously, and embrace others with the same grace that Laressa shared so freely.
