Mary Catherine Bork

Mary Catherine Bork, 65, died unexpectedly yet peacefully in her home in Olympia, Washington, on Thursday, April 24, 2025. She passed away from a progressive form of lung disease.

She was preceded in death by her parents Phillip Thompson and Elizabeth Patricia Bork. Mary is survived by her four siblings: Michael (Cara), Bruce, Tom (Sheila), and Lawrence (Marie); many nieces and nephews, extended family members, cherished friends, and numerous close coworkers.

Those who love Mary will miss her clever wit, intelligence, loyalty to God, classy demeanor, and brilliance in her career. She grew up in the South Capital Campus of Olympia, surrounded by amazing friends, graduated from Olympia High School and went to Western Washington University.

Mary lived in Tahoe near her brothers Tom and Bruce for several years, where she became an avid skier. Her other hobbies included watching all sports, (especially UW Huskies), playing golf, reading, walking, traveling, music, and art. Mary thoroughly enjoyed updating, decorating, and landscaping her beautiful home, and surrounded herself with photos of loved ones.

Later Mary lived in Seattle and worked as an Executive Assistant, landing at Amazon in 2009, where she thrived in her career, the last few years working from her home in Olympia. She often mentioned how grateful she was to have a position that challenged her, where she was respected as a professional, and had a thoughtful and caring boss.

Mary’s beautiful smile and strong spunky character will be fondly remembered. We look forward to having a celebration of life at The River’s Edge Restaurant at Tumwater Valley Golf Course, 4611 Tumwater Valley Dr SE, Tumwater, WA 98501, on Tuesday, August 5th from 1 to 4 pm.
