Stephen Walter Nale

Stephen Walter Nale, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2025, at the age of 76. A man of steadfast character, quick wit, and deep devotion to his family, Stephen's life was marked by service, love, laughter, and integrity.

Born on December 5, 1948, Stephen was the son of the late Walter Gus Nale and Dorothy Lillian Nale, who preceded him in death. He proudly served in the United States Navy and went on to earn a Master’s degree from New York Institute of Technology, laying the foundation for a distinguished career in aerospace.

Stephen began his professional journey with Eastern Airlines in 1972, where he met his beloved wife, Janis Carson Nale. Their marriage was a true partnership of over five decades, built on love, laughter, and shared values. Stephen continued his work in the aerospace industry until his passing, most recently as Vice President of Regent Aerospace.

He is survived by his loving wife, Janis; his children, John Carson Nale and wife Julie, and Stephanie Susanne Scaletta and husband Michael; and his cherished grandchildren, Carson Thomas and Charlee Grace Nale, and Carly Michelle and Carter Stephen Scaletta. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Richards; his brothers, Bob Nale and David Nale, and David’s wife Ann Nale.

Stephen was a man of quiet strength, generosity, and humility—but those who knew him best also knew his sharp sense of humor and quick wit. His ability to find laughter in life’s everyday moments brought joy to those around him, and his playful spirit was especially cherished by his grandchildren.

He treasured his time with family and found immense joy in and cherished being a part of his grandchildren’s lives—as they brought him spark and youthfulness. Stephen was also a world traveler who loved to explore new places. His adventures reflected his lifelong zest for life. To those who knew him, he was a dependable and steady presence—always willing to lend a hand, offer wise counsel, or share a laugh that made your day brighter.

Visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. on May 15, 2025, at Tribute and Tallent Funeral Service. A graveside burial will follow at Sharon Memorial Park in Charlotte, North Carolina
