Michael Barr passed away peacefully on May 7, 2025, surrounded by his loving wife, children, and grandchildren. Mike was admired and known for his unconditional love for his family. Mike touched many lives throughout his own life, as he had the ability to affect those around him positively with his laughter, big heart, and faith. Mike was a mental health professional in Tucson for decades, co-founding Behavioral Evaluation Services of Tucson, and his strong commitment to his work and moral principles helped thousands in need in the local community. Mike settled in Tucson in 1977, where he met and married his college sweetheart, Joy, who survives him, and to whom he was married for nearly 50 years. Mike was known as “Pathfinder” as the founder of Mad Men on the Mountain, a yearly camping trip that he continued for the past 48 years. Mike is also survived by his son Jeremy, who continues the Mad Men tradition as "Scout," and his daughter Shannon, who, like him, graduated from the University of Arizona.

Mike was a proud U.S. Army veteran, having served with the 121st Signal Battalion, 1st Infantry Division (“Big Red One”). He was also an avid bicyclist, competing for many years in El Tour de Tucson and other races across the country. He loved bicycling on the Tucson Loop, and as with everything Mike did, he always included others on his rides. Mike had a zest for reading, making homemade furniture, music, movies, and University of Arizona and Seattle sports. Mike was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, father-in-law, brother-in-law, and friend. He has left an amazing legacy and devotion to his family that will live on forever.
