Ruth M. Wilson
November 13th, 1931 - May 6th, 2025
Ruth Marion Wilson, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home in Windsor, Colorado, on May 6, 2025, at the age of 93. Ruth was born on November 13, 1931, in Denver, Colorado, to Luke and Martha Westervelt, and she lived a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Ruth graduated from Alameda High School, Lakewood, Colorado. After graduation she worked for Montgomery Ward. She met her husband Lindsey Wilson on a blind date. They were married on September 15, 1950 in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. She was a devoted wife until his passing December 30, 2011. They were married 61 wonderful years.
Ruth was a devoted mother to her three children: Cynthia Johnson (Larry) of Windsor, Colorado; Rodney Wilson of Eaton, Colorado; and Robert Wilson of Gill, Colorado. Her legacy continues through her two granddaughters, Angela Davenport (Eric) and Stacey Joseph (Andrew), as well as her six great-grandchildren, Alyssa Johnson (Bronco Patterson), Jaden and Jackson Joseph, and Dylan, Ryan, and Tyler Davenport. Each of them carries a piece of her spirit and warmth.
Ruth was a loving sister and sister-in-law, leaving behind four sisters-in-law: Lucy Westervelt, Gerri Westervelt, Maryann Croissant, and Lorene Achziger, along with her brother-in-law, Charles Achziger. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Lindsey Wilson, and her siblings: Ernie Westervelt, Charles (Marilyn) Westervelt, Robert (Ruth) Westervelt, Victoria (James) Pinkard, Luke II (Catherine) Westervelt, Ralph Westervelt, and George Westervelt. Also, brother and sister in-laws: Wilbur (Giny) Wilson, Mildred (Adam) Slonknes, Letha (Leon) Crom, and Milton Croissant. Ruth also leaves behind several nieces and nephews who will remember her fondly.
Ruth and her husband loved traveling in their motorhome visiting different places but you can bet that there was a casino somewhere close. They traveled in a motorhome caravan with brothers, sisters and friends. She loved going to Laughlin with her daughter and son-in-law. She enjoyed trips to Black Hawk and most recently the Horse Palace in Wyoming.
Ruth was known for her kindness, resilience, and unwavering love for her family and community. She had a remarkable ability to bring people together, creating a warm and welcoming home filled with laughter and joy. Her family was her pride and joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
Ruth was a long time member of the Galeton Community Church, also the Galeton Willy Workers Extension Club. They help with the Weld County Fair and served farm sales. Ruth was known for her amazing homemade pies. She still got together with a few of her longtime friends/members for lunch once a month until her passing.
As we remember Ruth, we celebrate a life well-lived, marked by her deep love for family and friends. She will be profoundly missed but will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
