Ashley Renee Segars

Ashley Renee Segars, 51, of Hanahan, SC, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2025, at Trident Hospital after a long and courageous battle with illness.

Born on June 10, 1973, at Roper Hospital in Charleston, SC, Ashley was a proud graduate of Hanahan High School and a lifelong resident of the Lowcountry. She was a devoted mother, loving grandmother, and a cherished daughter.

Ashley is survived by her beloved children, Hayley E. Russum (27) and Stephen M. Segars (19); her precious granddaughter, Ainsley Russum (3), with another grandchild on the way; and her devoted son-in-law, Richard Russum. She is also survived by her loving mother, Cynthia Davis. Ashley was preceded in death by her father, Archie F. Davis Jr.

Ashley dedicated her life to working in the shipping business, beginning her career at just 17 years old. She was known for her professionalism, passion, and dedication to helping others move their cargo with ease and efficiency. Her commitment to her work was matched only by the love she had for her family.

Ashley was deeply family-oriented and poured her heart into the lives of those she loved. She found joy in the simple things—watching birds from the back deck, dancing under the stars, and listening to the music of George Strait. These everyday moments were filled with laughter, warmth, and connection.

A funeral service to honor Ashley’s life will be held on Sunday, May 25, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Restoration Church, 6058 Miami Street, Hanahan, SC.

Ashley was the love of her mother’s life—thoughtful, caring, irreplaceable and best friends.  Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Flowers will be accepted or a donation to the SPCA in her honor.
