"I wait for the LORD, my soul waits, and in his word I hope." Psalm 130:5
Dorothy and her parents Cal and Marguerite Mulanax moved to their house on Skidmore Street in Portland, Oregon when she was one year old in 1930. A graduate of Beaumont Grade School and Grant High School, she went on to Oregon State College and then to University of Oregon School of Nursing (now OHSU) to become an RN. After their marriage in 1950, her husband Curt and her dad, Cal built their family home directly across the street from her parent’s home. This is where she raised their three kids, Clint, Cal, and Cynthia. She worked as an RN for Providence Hospital’s Children Clinic, Broadway Medical Clinic, and the Albertina Kerr Louise Home for Girls. She was 96 when she went home to the Lord from this same house in May 2025. Now you would think in this span of 95 years that it was all lived in the same 100-yard area on Skidmore Street. That is until you consider the 22 years she and Curt moved to assignments for his job in California, Florida, Washington, Pennsylvania, Texas, Puerto Rico, then on to St. Croix (and Hurricane Hugo in 1989), and Saudia Arabia and Australia! She always pointed out that in their many travels and adventures they trusted Christ with all their decisions. In recent years, those close to her attest to her longing to go home with the Lord!
