Rollin Reid Kenning
April 14th, 1954 - May 13th, 2025
In Loving Memory
Rollin Reid Kenning, 71, of Columbia, South Carolina, passed away peacefully at his home on May 13, 2025. He was born on April 14, 1954, in Beecher, Illinois, to Milford and Leona (Buchmeier) Kenning.
Rollin was a kind-hearted man who found joy in the simple pleasures of life—spending time with his family, listening to music, and relaxing with a good movie or television show. He had a deep appreciation for classic country and oldies, which often filled the background of his home and life.
He also had a wonderful sense of humor. Whether through a quick-witted comment or a perfectly timed joke, Rollin could bring laughter to any room. He had a unique, unmistakable laugh—warm, contagious, and impossible to forget. It lit up conversations and always made the people around him have a good time.
Rollin enjoyed reading and learning about history. He had a genuine interest in how the past shaped the world and could often be found absorbed in historical documentaries, TV specials, or just discussing stories from earlier times.
A devoted father, Rollin was the person both of his daughters called first—with any news, good or bad. He was their constant support, their source of wisdom and calm, and the one they could always count on no matter the circumstance. He shared a similarly close bond with his son, Joseph, who would often call to share news about a new car or motorcycle. Their shared love of vehicles allowed them to chat for hours.
A passionate car enthusiast and skilled mechanic, Rollin loved working on vehicles and sharing that passion with others. He took great pride in his cars—especially his beloved Pontiac Grand Prix—and was an avid fan of the iconic GTO. Whether attending car shows or watching them on TV, he was happiest in a garage full of tools, wax, and the hum of an engine. To him, the size of the garage was even more important than the size of the house—because that was where he truly felt at home.
Rollin was also a devoted animal lover, and his cherished dogs, Max and Buddy, brought him great comfort and joy over the years. They were loyal companions who shared in his daily life, and their memory will live on in the hearts of his family.
Above all else, Rollin was a good man. He will be remembered for his warmth, generosity, love for his family, that unmistakable look in his eye when he was about to crack a joke, and his one-of-a-kind laugh that will live on in the memories of everyone who knew him.
Rollin is survived by his loving daughters, Rachel Partilla (Eric) and Ashley Delleney (Greg); his daughter-in-law, Michelle Kenning (wife of the late Joseph Kenning); his cherished grandchildren: Ethan Kenning, Jenna Kenning, Logan Kenning, Hayden Partilla, Hunter Partilla, Adalyn Delleney, Danielle Delleney, and Baker Delleney; and his great-granddaughter, Paisley Kenning. He is also survived by his siblings: Marji Whittle, Richard Kenning, Nancy Lockhart, and Deb Roache.
He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Joseph Kenning; his parents, Milford and Leona Kenning; his brother, Stevon Kenning; and his dear sister-in-law, Donna Kenning, with whom he shared a close bond.
