Fred D. Easterling, age 89 of Scott County, VA, passed away on Friday, May 16, 2025.  Fred was born on March 11, 1936, in Scott County, VA, to Virgil and Phyllis Easterling.  On May 17, 1957, Fred married his best friend and love of his life, Cledith McConnell, and after 53 years of a wonderful life together, she preceded him in death. 

 

Fred worked for Ford Motor Company in Cleveland, OH for 30 years.  Retiring at the age of fifty, Fred moved back to Virginia.  Fred and his wife enjoyed camping, traveling, and spending time with their grandchildren.   

 

Fred was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Cledith McConnell Easterling; and one brother, Kelly Easterling.  Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Jennifer Stevens and her husband, Bob; son, Dave Easterling and his wife, Terry; two brothers, Johnny Easterling, and Andrew Easterling and his wife, Jennifer; sister, Renavae (Rena) Buonaccorsi and her husband, Paul; four grand kids; and three great grand kids. 

 

The family would like to give a special “Thank You” to Ballad Hospice for their care; especially Brooklyn, Hope, Candace, and Brittany. 

 

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Scott County Funeral Home in Weber City.  A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at 11:00 am at James Monroe McConnell Family Cemetery with Pastor Tony Kilgore officiating.  Nick Stevens, Jaxon Stevens, Greg Easterling, David Bruno, and Alec Gabriel will be serving as pallbearers.  Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:50 am.
