Frieda Valencia Tenner
September 16th, 1922 - April 19th, 2025
It is with great love and deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Frieda Valencia Tenner, a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished friend. Frieda passed away leaving behind a legacy of warmth, creativity, and quiet strength that touched everyone who knew her.
Frieda is lovingly remembered by her children: Lisa, Erin, and David; her grandchildren: Natasha, Anya, Tatiana, Zoe, and Sara; and her great-grandchildren: Gavin and Daphne. She also held a special place in her heart for Janene Bailey, a dear family friend whom she embraced as one of her own.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Stella and Franklin, and her devoted husband of 65 years, Robert.
Frieda was a woman of great compassion and uncommon generosity. She was known for taking others under her wing, offering shelter and support to those in need, from Janene—disabled—to aspiring opera singers and artists in search of a safe place and a kind heart. She was a leader and nurturer in every sense, serving as a Brownie and Girl Scout troop leader and Cub Scout troop den mother.
Professionally, Frieda was an accomplished interior decorator whose flair for beauty and eye for detail were matched only by her passion for people. Early in her life, she worked with one of Charles Schulz’s advisors and once attended a lunch where Schulz himself was present. At the lunch he encouraged her to read Peanuts the next morning. A new character was introduced: Frieda—with naturally curly red hair, just like hers.
Frieda was truly a character—spirited, kind, and unforgettable. Her memory will live on through the stories she leaves behind and the lives she touched, including her 3 children (one red-haired daughter who carries her fire), 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Her life was full of color, character, and compassion. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Memorial Contributions may be made in Frieda’s name to The CARES Foundation.
