Richard Melvin Mayes, was born July 28, 1954, in Greenwood, Mississippi: to George Sorell Mayes and Rosia Dorothy Mayes. He peacefully passed away in his sleep on Monday, May 5, 2025:
Richard and Erma were childhood sweethearts and were married 62 years. After working as a butcher for 14 years, Richard and Erma created Trash Senice, ruaning it for 36 years. Customers will remember that Richard talked to every customer - most customers would greet him at the trash cart or the curb to have a conversation.
Hopping out of the truck to say hi was an everyday occurrence, which had his sons shaking their heads as they walted,
Richand was a dichard Dallas Cowboys fan. And, boy, did he love his westerns The Lone Ranger) and General Hospital.
He was a sweet, loving man; always ready with a smile. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, kindness and love.
Richard was a God-Fearing man, always thinking of his family, on up until the very end. His number one goal intife was to make sure that his wife, kids and grandchildren had a better life than he had.
He was husband to Erms, father to, Keya Baker, Val Mayes, Dre Mayes, Richard Jr, and Cherese Mayes. He was Papa to grandchildren, Monique, Ray Mitchell, Ashley, Dominique, Cierra, Keyosha, Roesc, Melissa. Tillany and a host of great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
