Diann Lela Dye
April 17th, 1943 - May 13th, 2025
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Diann Lela Dye, a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who left us on May 13, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on April 17, 1943, in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, Diann embraced life with a warmth and vigor that touched everyone who knew her.
Diann was the beloved daughter of Lela and Ivan Ferrell, and her early life was marked by challenges, including overcoming childhood polio. This experience shaped her resilient spirit and unwavering determination, qualities that she carried throughout her life. She was a proud graduate of South High School, Rebels, and she went on to work at Coors Tek for 35 years, dedicating herself to her career with the same passion she applied in all aspects of her life.
Diann was preceded in death by her dear son, Dirk Sagee, and is survived by a loving family who will carry her memory forward: her sister Elaine Kerley; her children, Darren Sagee, Dana Lee, and Rusty Dye; her grandchildren, Larry Hughes, Shilo Lee, Andrew Lee, and Lela Rogers; and many extended family members and friends who were privileged to know her.
A true embodiment of the phrase "life is what you make it," Diann had a multitude of hobbies and interests that painted a vibrant tapestry of her life. She was an accomplished leather worker, often working on the kitchen table where the leather was transformed in pursuit of her craft and the tables were replaced time and time again. At the age of 51, she surprised everyone by participating in the Bolder Boulder, where she was joyfully greeted by her son returning from deployment. Diann was a supporter of the Denver Broncos and Nuggets, and she had an unabashed love for Star Wars, often sharing her passion with those around her.
Diann was deeply involved in her community, serving as a dedicated Auxiliary Member of American Legion Post 21 in Golden and the Auxiliary Member of VFW 4171 in Golden. Her commitment to her community and fellow veterans was a testament to her character, embodying the spirit of service and camaraderie.
A celebration of Diann's life will take place at the American Legion Post 21, where family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and honor a woman who brought so much joy and love to those around her.
As we say goodbye to Diann Lela Dye, let us remember her spirit, her laughter, and her unwavering strength. She leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience that will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her. Rest in peace, dear Diann; you will be profoundly missed.
