Carol A. Martino
July 10th, 1949 - May 14th, 2025
Carol A. Martino, a long time resident of Woodbury Heights, passed away peacefully at her home in Oak Valley on May 14, 2025, at the age of 75. Born in Philadelphia to John and Gladys Albert, she spent her formative years in Oak Valley and recently returned to the home where she grew up, a place rich with memories. Her career began in the banking industry, where she honed her skills and developed a passion for helping others. She later transitioned to work as a mortgage loan officer with Weichert and other firms, showing a remarkable commitment to her clients. After retirement, she found joy in her role as a cashier at the ShopRite of West Deptford, relishing the opportunity to interact with customers, forge new friendships, and touch lives with her warm spirit. Beyond her professional pursuits, Carol thrived in the company of others. Her enthusiasm for entertaining was evident in the way she welcomed family and friends into her home, where she delighted them with her culinary creations. Her famous beef stew, always a favorite, was more than just a dish; it was a symbol of her nurturing nature that made everyone feel at home. Her granddaughter's delight in her homemade Key Lime Pie, lovingly crafted from scratch, showcased Carol's ability to blend tradition with her personal touch in every meal. Carol found peace in the simplicity of her garden and the joy of watching her beloved Phillies play. She had a deep interest in horse racing that energized her spirit, and her fascination with the Royal Family inspired her to take trips to England, reflecting her adventurous and inquisitive nature. Carol also spent many years involved in the church she grew up at, Woodbury Heights Presbyterian Church. She treasured the friendships she made with her fellow church members and loved still spending time with many of them at their “Prime Timers” lunches.
She is lovingly survived by her two children, Jennifer L. Martino and Joseph S. Martino Jr. (Michelle), brother John Albert (Nancy), brother-in-law Carmen Martino (Jan), and four beloved grandchildren: Grayce, Riley, Joseph III, and Gianna. Her extended family, which includes nieces and nephews Christine, John, Janice, Jay (Fran), John (Heather), Janet (Nick), Joe (Michelle), and Frank III (Cathy), along with many great-nieces, nephews, extended family and treasured friends. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Gladys, and her devoted husband of 51 years, Joseph S. Martino Sr, her in-laws: Frank and Jean Martino, as well as Frank (Helen) and Jeanie.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Carol's life during her viewing on Monday, June 2, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at McGuinness Funeral Home, located at 34 Hunter St., Woodbury, NJ. The following day, June 3, 2025, a second viewing will be held from 9:30 AM to 10:45AM at the First Presbyterian Church of Woodbury Heights, 335 Elm Avenue, Woodbury Heights, NJ, prior to a heartfelt Funeral Ceremony at the church at 11:00AM.
