Aspen Mortuaries - Lakewood
Robert John Toll, Dr.
October 11th, 1947 - January 9th, 2025
Dr. Robert “Bob” J. Toll, 77, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of faith, scholarship, and unwavering love for his family and community. Born in Denver, Colorado in 1947 to Jack Benjamin Toll and Jean Small Toll, Bob was the oldest of five and was raised in the close-knit neighborhoods of Wheat Ridge and Applewood.
From an early age, Bob was known for his boundless energy, infectious charisma, and vibrant spirit. Whether he was swimming on the team, earning the role of bus safety patrol officer, or going to State in gymnastics, Bob had a gift for both leadership and connection. He brought that same energy into every chapter of his life.
A lifelong learner and passionate scholar, Bob earned his Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Colorado in 1969. Driven by a deep sense of purpose and spiritual calling, he later completed his Doctorate at the Iliff School of Theology. Education was central to his life’s mission, and he inspired others through his teaching, sermons, and mentorship.
Bob was a devoted pastor of the United Methodist Church for over 40 years. He was active in the United Methodist Mountain Sky Conference and the Guild for Sacred Studies. Bob was also employed by the Jefferson County Sheriffs Office for a few years as the Jail Chaplin. He shined on the pulpit, where his sermons were known for their warmth, depth, and storytelling. His ministry was one of compassion, celebration, and genuine joy.
To call Bob outgoing would be an understatement. He lit up every room he entered. He adored hosting Christmas parties, caroling with friends, and making every holiday—especially Christmas—magical. He celebrated life's moments big and small, always eager to gather others in joy.
Above all else, Bob cherished his family. He is survived by his beloved daughter, Kristen Toll, and his siblings Barbara Gwiazdowski, Susan Potter, Jack Toll, and Carol Conway. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Jean Toll.
In honor of Bob’s lifelong dedication to education and spiritual growth, the family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Iliff School of Theology Annual Scholarship Fund, in his name:Dr. Robert "Bob" J. TollDonate Here
Bob’s light touched many lives, and his legacy of love, laughter, learning, and faith will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
