Donald Robert Matulich Passed away on May 14, 2025 at the age of 87 at Sutter Roseville Hospital.  Born August 1, 1937 in Drytown, California to Donald George and Joan Valentine (Bogliolo) Matulich. Don was a graduate of Amador High School in 1955 and has remained close friends with many of his classmates.

Don was an accomplished horseback rider and won many awards through the state of California including State Reserve Champion - Working Western Cowboy which earned him the prestigious invitation to ride in the Tournament of Roses Parade, Pasadena, Ca in January of 1978. He thoroughly enjoyed working in his beautiful yard and was quite proud of his garden. He was a man of many talents including the construction and remodel of several homes and many of his beautiful paintings and wood carvings won blue ribbons at our local County Fairs.

 

He and his wife Arline of 47 years loved to travel and were active in the restoration and showing of their classic vehicles for many years! Don was an avid Hunter and particularly loved Turkey hunting. In his younger years, he worked in the Space Industry including Aerojet in California and Cape Canaveral, now known as the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Don retired in 1990 from the Preston School of Industry after 25 years of service as an Investigator/Parol agent. 

 

Donald is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Arline (Sugar) Matulich of Ione, CA; 3 children; 4 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren and was proceeded in death by his parents, and a son and grandson.

 

He will be truly missed and forever in our hearts! There will be no service, in lieu of cards or flowers, if you would like to honor Don, any donations to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital in his name would be an honor to his memory.
