All-States Cremation - Colorado Springs
Lenore Elizabeth Knox
August 24th, 1939 - May 17th, 2025
It is with our profound sadness to announce the passing of Lenore Elizabeth Knox (Vercellino) a devoted wife, loving mother and cherished grandmother who passed away peacefully on May 17, 2025 at the age of 85, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was born in Chicago, Illinois and had 6 siblings. After she graduated from high school, her sense of adventure to explore the world took her to New York (where she learned how to drive), San Francisco and finally Denver, where she met her husband. She had an incredible sense of adventure, gift of laughter, happy go lucky attitude and cherished her husband, children, family and friends. She met her love of her life in 1965 at University of Colorado Medical Center where she came waltzing into George’s office to ask for funds. They were married on April 14, 1967, and they just celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary. Lenore retired from Manitou Springs City Hall as the Finance Director. She volunteered for the Colorado Springs Library and was active in the Catholic church. She attended Our Lady of the Woods in Manitou Springs and more recently Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Lenore is survived by her, husband, George, her children Dawn Knox, Joy Varady (spouse Jay) and Greg Knox (spouse Cornelia), granddaughter Ana Sniffen, siblings Sister Dawn Vercellino, OSB, Richard (Dick) and Joyce Galvan. She was preceded in death by her parents Antonio (Tom) Vercellino and Italia (Tal Frigo), brothers Thomas and Gerald (Jerry) and sister Joy Butcher and her in laws Kay (Thomas wife), Nancy (Dick wife), John Galvan (Joyce husband), Jim Butcher (Joy husband).
A private Memorial Ceremony will be held in her honor on May 24th, 2025.
