Marion K. Monsor
August 27th, 1928 - May 17th, 2025
Marion Karam Monsor, 96, passed away on May 17, 2025 in Tucson, Arizona. She was born August 27, 1928 in New Britain, CT. She was a proud first generation American of Assyrian descent. Her mother had fled the Armenian/Assyrian genocide going on in the Middle East and arrived at Ellis Island on August 14, 1921 at age 18 aboard the Niagara. Marion grew up in New Britain, CT and was an office manager and secretary at City Hall and then at Connecticut Light and Power Co. She moved to Chicago in 1958 where she met and married the love of her life, Wally Monsor. They were joined at the hip and thoroughly devoted to each other, and to their only child, Ann, who was born in 1960. Marion was executive secretary at the Academy of the Sacred Heart Girls and Hardey Prep Boys Catholic Schools. Students frequented her office for encouragement, a smile and a piece of candy. When both Wally and Marion retired, they moved back to New Britain CT and lived in the same house Marion grew up in. In 2010, Ann dragged them to Tucson and the lovely Sonoran Desert in order for them to live close to her. Marion and Wally were married for 61 years before Wally died in 2018. Marion was a classy, put-together lady who was thoughtful, compassionate and generous to others. Her Catholic faith was central to her life. She always had 2 rosaries in her purse and never missed mass unless there were extenuating circumstances. She had a great laugh and was easily teased by her family. She was a great daughter, sister to 3 brothers, mother, Nana to 2 grandsons and great-Nana to 2 great-grandkids
