Gary Walter Johnson

Gary Walter Johnson passed through the veil into the next stage of life on Tuesday, May 13, 2025. He was 80 years old. Gary was born on December 11, 1944, in Prescott, Arizona to Vearl and Elva Johnson.  He was the fourth of five siblings.

When Gary was 6 months old, his family moved to Southern California where he grew up.  Gary graduated from Chaffey High School Ontario California in 1962 and then served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the West Central States from 1964 to 1966.  He married Janice Rae Lewis on July 22, 1966. They are the parents of eight boys. Gary served in the Army Medical Corp from 1966-68. He is a graduate of Chaffey Junior College and California State Polytechnic University (Pomona California) and worked in various Information Technology roles retiring as Senior Systems Analyst with the City of Chandler.

He was preceded in death by parents Horace and Elva Johnson, brother Keith Johnson, sisters Loraine Miller, and Carol Horn, and son Ty. He is survived by his wife Janice Rae, brother Wayne (Linda), sons Lance (Helen), Shad, Heath (Loriann), Dustin (Jilue), Brad (Marcie), Luke (Elizabeth), and Wade (Amanda).

The Funeral will be held on Saturday, May 31 at the Lindsay Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints 1150 N Lindsay Rd. Gilbert Arizona 85234. The viewing will start at 9:30 am and Funeral services will follow at 11:00am. Interment will be at the National Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Arizona on June 2, 2025.
