Andrew Amos Gallegos
October 30th, 1952 - May 2nd, 2025
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved brother, Andrew Amos Gallegos.
Andrew passed away peacefully at the age 72, on May 2, 2025, at Overland Court Assisted Living surrounded by family and friends. Andrew was born October 30, 1952 in Pueblo Colorado to Demostenes and Tila Gallegos. He was a talented artist and he loved to share his art with friends and family. Many of his drawings depicted crosses with images of Christ.
At the age of 26, Andrew was diagnosed with schizophrenia. It was an illness he struggled with most of his life. Despite his challenges, Andrew formed deep connections with people from all walks of life. He was a friend to the downtrodden, the homeless, those suffering from addictions and those struggling in life. Andrew provided a haven for many in need over the years.
In his final years, Andrew battled kidney failure and underwent a decade of dialysis several times a week. He never complained and was thankful for the time he could spend with his family and friends.
Andrew was the glue that kept the family together. He was always there for his siblings, nieces and nephews. He kept in touch daily wanting to hear how every member of the family was doing, including the family pets. He will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister; Cecelia, nieces; Brenda, Robin and Jenine, nephew; Rocky, and brothers-in-law; Carl Ayres and Manuel Trujillo. Survivors are his siblings; Romaine (Joe), Bobby, Kathy (Larry), Gina (John), Rita, Rudy and Gerri; brother-in-law; Felix and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank his doctor, Jessica Sallstrom at Terry Reilly for the attention and kindness she gave our brother; Dr. Fearday and staff at Liberty Dialysis for the care they provided; and the staff at Overland Court Assisted Living for the kindness and compassions shown to our brother during his stay there. There are so many special angels working at Overland Court and we will always be grateful.
