Rosada B. Lackey
September 18th, 1925 - May 16th, 2025
Rosada Bowman Lackey, 99, wife of 71 years to Parks Kendall Lackey, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on May 16, 2025. She was born in Alexander County, NC.
She was the youngest of seven girls with no brothers. She was a proud graduate of Appalachian State University as were most of her sisters. She was a loving and caring wife, sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a retired Mecklenburg County elementary school teacher. She loved to travel and had visited all 50 states, Canada and some of Europe. Her favorite times were spent camping with family or friends and especially at their property in the Linville, NC area.
Surviving is a son Richard (Judith) of Greenville, SC and a daughter, Alice Kilby (Derwin) of North Wilkesboro, NC; grandson David Lackey and granddaughters, Jessica Keiser and Heather Jordan . Also surviving are her great-grandchildren, Aidan and Evie Jordan and Kendall Keiser.
A special thank you to Jackie, Cheryl, Dr. Clements and all the many other staff at Southminster Embrace Health and to Via Health Partners Hospice for providing a kind and caring environment for both of our parents on their final journey.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 2nd at St. Andrews Methodist Church at 2PM, with the Rev. Sherri Barnes officiating. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service. Inurnment for immediate family will follow the memorial service in the Church Columbarium.
Arrangements are under the direction of Hankins and Whittington Funeral Service, 1111 East Blvd., Charlotte, NC 28203.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Andrews Methodist Church; 1901 Archdale Drive, Charlotte, NC 28210.
