Gary Whitney passed away on April 25, 2025, in Lexington, KY. He was born to the late Robert and Jean Whitney of Zanesville, Ohio.
A devoted father, son, and friend, Gary was known for his generosity and unwavering dedication to his loved ones. He always made time to help those in need, ensuring his family and friends were well cared for. His commitment to service extended beyond his inner circle, as he dedicated countless hours to various charitable organizations across multiple states.
Among his many volunteer endeavors, Gary found great joy in working with the Boy Scouts of America in Connecticut, where he was honored with several district awards for his contributions.
Gary is survived by his three children, Danielle, Susanne, and Michael (Rebecca) of Lexington, KY; two sisters, Karen Bussey and Gail (Ron) Mitchell; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Friday, May 23, at Pax Christi Catholic Church (4001 Victoria Way, Lexington, KY 40515) from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by a funeral Mass at 1:00 p.m.
