Jackie Buell Dunn

Jackie Buell Dunn, 85, of Olympia, Washington, passed away peacefully at his home on March 30, 2025.

He was born on April 24, 1939, in Blue Diamond, Kentucky, a small Coal Town in Perry County. The Blue Diamond Coal Company established the town circa 1916 and at its peak in the 1930s the population was about 2,000. Jackie eventually left Kentucky but carried with it a love for Bluegrass and classic country music.

After relocating to Washington State and then later Olympia, Jackie became known for his love of everything blue, his warm, wonderful smile, his love of trains and coffee and his vast collection of coffee mugs. He was supported for many, many years by Kokua Services, and had several beloved friends and roommates over that time. He was also cared for by some wonderful staff who brought much care and joy into his life.

Jackie is survived by a sister, whom he had recently connected with, as well as some extended family and friends including Dwayne Deskins and Hilary Lewis. A private memorial service will be held to honor his life and legacy, Friday May 23rd, 2025, at 10am at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Lacey Washington. Dwayne Deskins will preside over the service.

Coffee and light refreshments will be served following the service, and attendees are welcome to take a coffee mug from Jack's collection, as a memento to remember him by.
