Donald F. Petrovic

Lexington, Kentucky

Donald Francis Petrovic, age 92, passed away on May 15, 2025, after a long and courageous journey with Alzheimer’s Disease. Don was a man of kindness and resilience, living a life marked by determination and a genuine passion for what he loved.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Don spent the first 45 years of his life in his hometown before embarking on a new chapter in Texas, living in the Fort Worth and Little Elm areas for four decades. He later moved to Lexington, Kentucky, where he spent his final years close to his loving daughter Donna.

A gifted entrepreneur with an extraordinary mind for mathematics and business, Don built a successful career by acquiring and transforming several companies. His acumen for numbers and sharp strategic insight made him a respected figure in every business community he joined. Don was equally passionate about staying active and engaged with life. A natural athlete, he excelled in numerous sports—most especially baseball and golf—and remained vibrant and competitive well into his late 80s, famously challenging family members to push-up contests with a grin and unshakable confidence.

Don’s life was defined by his infectious enthusiasm that touched everyone who knew him with his full head of grey hair, impish grin and twinkle in his eye.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Doris Chamberlain Petrovic; his parents, Louise and Frank Petrovic; his son, Mark Petrovic of Lexington, KY; his brother, Frank Petrovic of Lipan, TX; his sister, Patsy Schwenner of Winter Springs, FL; and his best friend, Bruce Smith of Plano, TX.

Don is survived by his devoted daughter, Donna Petrovic of Lexington, KY; his son, Greggor Petrovic, and son-in-law Steve Goldberg of New York City.

Donald Petrovic will be laid to rest in a private family ceremony at Laurel Land Memorial Cemetery in Fort Worth, Texas.
