Wanda Sue Day, 60, of Amsterdam, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at St Mary’s Hospital.
She was born on March 27, 1965, in Rutland, VT, to the late Wendell and Phyllis (Gibbs) Hutchins. She graduated from High School in Vermont, and shortly after moved to Gansevoort, NY. She lived in different cities for several years and moved to Amsterdam five years ago. Throughout her life, she was employed as an EMT, first responder, and CNA.
Wanda loved the country landscape, the color purple, butterflies, and especially horses. She was funny and also known as stubborn to her family and many friends. More than anything, she enjoyed spending time with her daughters and grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents Phyllis and Wendell Hutchins, along with several siblings.
Wanda is survived by her daughters Elizabeth King, Rebecca (Andrew Tiller) Abare of South Carolina, Breana Abare, and Mariah (Stephen Wilson) Day; siblings Donna Gibbs and Douglas Hutchins; grandson Zachary Boyd Cherven of South Carolina; Kate Halloran; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Wanda’s arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY 12010. There will be no services at this time.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to HBH Clydesdales, 137 Prairie Road, Sloansville, NY 12160.
