Melanie Jane Black, daughter of Bennie Brooks Blackmon and Bettie Piner Burkett passed away peacefully at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center on May 19, 2025. A resident of Kings Mountain NC, Mrs. Black was born in Miami, Florida on February 6, 1962.
Everyone who knew Melanie knew her rambunctious way of life. Mrs. Black gave her life to Christ as an early age after being baptized and enjoyed going to church every Sunday. She had an extraordinary love for animals, especially for her dog Bug. She loved going on motorcycle rides, and day visits to the beach. In her younger days she loved to dress up and dance. Mrs. Black had a passion for crocheting and coloring.
Family was important to Melanie. She loved nothing but spending time with her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her three children, Bettie Jo Oliver (Maurice), Kayla Pepper, Brad Pepper, Stepdaughter Stephanie Black, brother Michael Blackmon (Gena), sister Sharon Wallace (Mark), stepmom Colleen Blackmon, several grandchildren and great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father Bennie B Blackmon, mother Bettie P Burkett, and sister Kimberly Ramsey.
