With heavy heart, we announce the death of Otto Werner Roolvink, who passed away on May 9, 2025, at the age of 57 in San Diego, California.
Born in Almelo, The Netherlands, October 19, 1967, Otto will be remembered for his sweet easy smile, his gentle humble spirit, and big heart. Ottt's passion was playing bass guitar in reggae bands and spreading positive messages of hope, love and unity. He was equally passionate about organic cooking, farming and gardening, spending time with his family, and fishing with his son, Gavin.
Otto is proceeded in death by his father and mother, Werner and Ineke Roolvink, his sister, Liesbeth Roolvink and stepfather, Stijn Tiere and father-in-law, Ron McKenzie. Otto is survived by his wife, Leslie Roolvink, and son, Gavin. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Eugene and Erica Roolvink and their children, Niek and Thijs Roolvink, his mother-in-law, Susan McKenzie, his brother-in-law, Scott Wratten, his father and mother-in-law, Victor and Sandy Wratten and stepbrothers, Michiel and Wiegert Tiere. Otto also leaves behind several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, as well as a vast network of friends and musician colleagues who adored him.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 6, 2025, at 11:00 am at Legacy Funeral & Cremation Care, 7043 University Ave in La Mesa, CA. If you are unable to attend in person, you can watch the service live day of at this link:
