Mary "Wella" Montano

On May 10, 2025, our beloved Mary Montano (affectionately known as Wella), of Tucumcari, New Mexico, earned her heavenly wings as she was warmly welcomed into eternal peace. Born in Amarillo, Texas, on December 17, 1954, to Pete and Juanita Martinez, Mary now rejoins her husband Raymond Montano, her parents, siblings, nephews, and other beloved family members who awaited her arrival with open arms.

Mary had a vibrant spirit and a heart full of love. She had a special fondness for getting her nails done, never said no to a slice of cake, and was a lifelong fan of Betty Boop! She delighted in playing computer games and cherished every moment spent with her family—especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her unconditional love, contagious laughter, and heartfelt stories will forever echo in the lives of those she touched.

Mary’s beautiful legacy lives on through her children: Yolanda and Justin Powell, Jenny Montano, Ricky and Cristal Montano; her brothers Timmy, and Neva Chambless, Denise Chambless Patsy Chambless Irma Chambless Tina Martinez Robin and Teresa Martinez, Larry and Lisa, Martinez, Peter Martinez, Vicky and Jesse, Chambless, Charlie, and Cordella Chambless,  her grandchildren: Savannah, Cellisha, JJ, Mesha, Jessica, Bubba, Anique, Nate, and Leo; and her great-grandchildren: Jakus, Koda,, Kaimilah, Xavion, Ja’khia, Jonavan, and Avery.

A Rosary will be held in her honor on Friday, June 6th at 6:00 PM at St. Anne’s Catholic Church. A joyous Celebration of Life will follow on Saturday, June 7th at 11:00 AM at First Assembly Church in Tucumcari, New Mexico. After the burial, family and friends are invited to gather, share fond memories, and continue Mary’s beautiful legacy of love.

Mary will be missed deeply, loved eternally, and remembered always
