Sailing Home – For Gary No storms to chase, no need to roam— He’s found the tide that feels like home. A captain now of sky and sea, At peace, where he was meant to be.

Gary Alan Burzynski, 70, passed away peacefully at his home in Englewood, Florida, on Sunday, May 25, 2025.

Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on September 26, 1954, Gary later moved to Brunswick, Ohio, during his high school years. A natural leader, he served as captain of the football team and was a standout in basketball and baseball. More importantly, Brunswick is where he met the love of his life, Ramona. They later married and built a beautiful life together in Valley City, Ohio, raising two daughters, Renee and Lisa.

Family was everything to Gary. His devotion extended beyond his immediate family to include his lifelong friends—his high school buddies, otherwise known as “The Bros.” Gary found great joy in supporting his daughters and grandchildren in all their endeavors, especially their sporting and life events. He was their biggest fan.

Gary’s zest for life was evident in his love of travel, adventure, and fun. A passionate fisherman and boater, he spent countless cherished hours on Lake Erie and proudly held several Fish Ohio awards. He was a lifelong fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Browns, and Cleveland Indians, faithfully cheering them on through every season—ups and downs alike.

Gary worked many years as a Concrete Foreman before landing what he called his dream job as Superintendent of Brunswick City Streets. After retiring, he and Ramona moved to Englewood, Florida, to enjoy the warmth of the sun and the serenity of the beach.

Gary is survived by his beloved wife, Ramona; his daughters, Lisa Burzynski and Renee (Bill) Wilson; grandchildren, Blake Wilson and Kirsten (Matthew) Funfgeld; great-grandchildren, Hayden and Olivia Funfgeld; his mother, Jan; and his two brothers and four sisters.

A Celebration of Life is being planned for a future date at the Brunswick Eagles Club, where Gary was a proud member since 1990.

He will be deeply missed but always remembered for his strong resiliency, quick wit, and—most of all—his unwavering love for his family. To his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the twinkle of his eye, he was lovingly known as Dub Dub, always ready with a smile, a laugh, or a cheer from the sidelines. To his daughters, he was Dad—their protector, biggest supporter, and steady presence throughout life’s journey. And to the love of his life, he was Hun—her partner, her rock, and her very best friend.

Though our hearts ache in his absence, we find peace in knowing that his love surrounds us still.

May you rest in peace now, Dad. We will always love you, Hun.
