Rhett Traynham Brownlee
1/20/1970 – 5/26/2025
With heartfelt sorrow, we announce the passing of Rhett Brownlee, who departed this life on May 26th, 2025, at the age of 55 peacefully at his home. He was born on January 20th, 1970, to Audrey Brownlee Geiger and John T. Brownlee III. After Rhett graduated from Irmo High School in 1988, he attended Francis Marion University.
Rhett was known for his goofiness, loyalty, outgoing personality, and pure heart. He was an avid soccer player, eventually turning this hobby into a shared passion with his son. Rhett enjoyed rooting for the Clemson Tigers and Citadel Bulldogs. He dedicated nearly 30 years to Edwards & Associates as a realtor in Charleston, SC. Rhett lived for his family, his friends, and was an active member of the Johns Island Seacoast Church.
He was predeceased by his father John Brownlee III and his sister-in-law Karen Bessinger. He is survived by his wife Allison Brownlee, his son Connor Brownlee (Mackenzie & grandson, Crew, due in November), his daughter Logan Brownlee (Jacob), his mother Audrey Geiger, his stepfather Bob Geiger, his sister Lisha Wade (Jay), his brother Bobby Geiger (Tracie), his in-laws Sam & Joan Brownlee and sister-in-law Debbie Shelby (Dennis). He is also remembered by his nieces and nephews: Rian (Jionte) & Drew, Taylor & Meagin, Clay & Cody, and Curtis (Amber) & Patrick.
A homegoing celebration will be held on June 2nd, 2025, at the West Ashley Seacoast Church (2049 Savannah Hwy), officiated by Mac Mood. Visitation is from 2PM-3PM with the service beginning at 3PM. All who knew and loved Rhett are welcome to attend and celebrate his life.
Scripture reminds us in 2 Timothy 4:7, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” We rejoice that Rhett now dwells in glory, having heard the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Seacoast Church for their Johns Island campus building project, in memory of Rhett.
To know him was to love him. Though we mourn, we do not grieve as those without hope – for we know that in Christ, we will be reunited again.
