Mattie Elizabeth Zeigler Stockman went Home to be with the Lord on May 28, 2025 at the age of 81. Born in Columbia, SC, she was the daughter of the late Johnny A. Zeigler and Marguerite Turlington Zeigler.
Mattie was known affectionately as, “Baby,” by her husband, “Mama,” by her children and “Grandmama,” by her grands. She loved her family, the Lord and never met a stranger. She was a graduate of Columbia High. She worked at Allied Chemical/Honeywell for 38 years, then worked as title runner for Enterprise Car Rental for at least 12 years.
She was a devout Christian and enjoyed reading her Bible and sharing the Lord with anyone.
She enjoyed camping, reading, spending time with her family and grands. She loved all of her dogs, owls and was an avid nature lover. Two of her favorite Facebook “stalkings” were Frannie and the Postman and Longhorn Lesters. She could tell you everything about them. :) She loved Nascar racing and Atlanta Braves baseball.
Mama had a heart of gold, and she will be loved forever and missed by all who loved her

She was preceded in death by her parents and her grandson, Lee.
She is survived by her husband, Donald Ray; children, Tammy (Clifton), Donnie (Debbie), Marshall; grandchildren: Tiffany Elizabeth Simmons, Michael Conrad Stockman, Caitlyn Faith Stockman; brother: John Alvin Zeigler; nieces Lisa Adams (Loran), Kathy White (Steve); great niece: Nicole Adams; great nephew: Matthew Skipper; cousins; two daughters-in-love: Elaine Donaldson and Lisa Dial; along with her loving Chihuahua, Penny.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 2nd , from 1-2 p.m. at Woodridge Memorial Park and Funeral Home Mausoleum, Lexington, SC, followed by the service at 2 p.m. with Pastor Gene Rowell of Gantt Street Baptist Church officiating.
Serving as pallbearers will be: Donnie Stockman, Marshall Stockman, Clifton Simmons, Conrad Stockman, Leon Turlington,and Robert Jones.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gantt Street Baptist Church, Cayce, SC or Emmanuel Lutheran Church, West Columbia, SC.
Please remember her smile with laughter when you think of her.
An angel flying too close to the ground, the good Lord called her home to be with others that He has taken before.
