Jody Sue Stein
March 29th, 1963 - May 19th, 2025
In Loving Memory
Jody Stein was a force of nature—an athlete, a scholar, a teacher, and above all, a cherished friend to many. She graduated from Parsippany Hills High School in 1981, where she etched her name into history as the school’s first 1,000-point basketball scorer. Her leadership propelled her team to the County Finals that same year. On the softball field, she played first base and helped lead her team to the State Championship, earning her a rightful place in the High School Sports Hall of Fame.
With her passion for sports, Jody went on to attend St. Louis University on a basketball scholarship, graduating in 1985. Her skills on the court remained unmatched, and in the 1984 season, she ranked third all-time in free throw percentage, sinking an impressive 83% of her shots.
After college, Jody made St. Louis her home for many years before moving to Las Vegas in 2020. She embraced a diverse career path, excelling in teaching and healthcare management. Always drawn to community and connection, she later taught math at the Community College of Southern Nevada, where her humor, kindness, and unwavering dedication left an impact on countless students.
Jody had an incredible ability to make friends wherever she went, her warmth and wit lighting up every room she entered. She had a special love for dogs, always ensuring she had a furry companion by her side. Her devotion extended beyond her immediate circle—she was active in her church, engaged in the Amputee Support Group, and never hesitated to lend her support to anyone in need. Even as she faced significant health challenges in her later years, Jody remained resilient and compassionate, offering strength to others despite her own struggles.
She leaves behind her father, Barry Stein, of Fort Pierce, Florida, her brother, Randy Stein, of Corona, California, Nieces and nephews, Courtney Stein of Aliso Viejo, CA, Alexis Wolfe of Riverside, CA and Jeremy and Dylan Stein of Corona, CA. She also leaves a multitude of friends she made along the way.
