Robert Kent “Bob” Morris, adored husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, deeply loved by his family, passed away May 15, 2025, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was born December 5, 1935, in Louisville, Kentucky, to Russell and Esther Morris.
Bob married Barbara A. Owens on June 7, 1957, in Louisville, Kentucky. After years of relocating with the Air Force, they found their final family home in Colorado Springs in 1974. They nurtured and encouraged their four children: Leigh-Ann Collett (Chester), R. Kent (Angela), D. Brent (Natalie), and B. Lynn (Scott Bogard). Bob continued his nurturing support with his eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Bob graduated from Southern High School in Louisville, Kentucky, and earned a BA in History and Political Science from Western Kentucky State University and MA in Secondary Education from Pepperdine University.
Bob served his country in the United States Air Force for 22 ½ years. He retired as a Lt. Colonel from Peterson Air Force Base in 1980. His distinguished service included remote assignments in Vietnam and Korea. His military honors include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Air Force Commendation Medal with two oak leaf clusters, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Korea), the Vietnam Service Medal with Battle Service Star, the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Meritorious Service Medal. After retiring from the Air Force in 1980, Bob managed the Rustic Hills Plaza in Colorado Springs until his second retirement in 1990.
Bob was not only committed to his family and friends, but also to God, his country, and community. He was a dedicated member of Central United Methodist Church and served as the Head of the Trustees.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Esther Morris, his brother, Russell E. Morris, Jr., and his granddaughter, Clare Morris.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Pikes Peak Hospice or the Colorado Springs Philharmonic.
The Service is at 10:00AM, Monday, June 16, 2025, at Central United Methodist Church.
