Robert Joseph Landry
March 21st, 1945 - May 24th, 2025
Robert Joseph Landry, age 80 of Bradenton, Florida, passed away peacefully on May 24th, 2025, surrounded by family. Born on March 21st, 1945 in Chicago, Illinois. Robert (Bob) was the beloved son of Rene "Dodo" and Josephine "Jojo" Landry along with older brothers George and Paul.
Bob lived a full and vibrant life in Florida for decades. Growing up on the Southside of Chicago, Bob graduated from Loyola University Chicago in 1963, which perhaps not coincidentally coincided with the Loyola Ramblers winning the national championship. Upon graduating from St. Louis University Law School, Bob went on to have a distinguished thirty-five-year career as an attorney for the State of Florida. Bob was well-liked and well-respected. He argued at every level of State and Federal courts, arguing cases before both the Supreme Court of the United States and the Florida State Supreme Court. As his former colleagues and any judge who had the pleasure of having Bob stand before them would tell you, Bob had an extremely high legal-acumen and a reputation for being a man of the greatest integrity.
Bob was above all else, a devoted member of the St. Peter & Paul's Catholic Church. He was a dedicated philanthropist supporting a multitude of Catholic charities. After the church and family, Bob loved his Chicago sports teams. He was a fan of the Chicago Bears along with the Bulls, Blackhawks and the Cubs, but his first true and abiding love was for the White Sox.
Bob cherished spending time with his family eating great food and debating current events, trivia and sports dynasties. He was well known at many Bradenton restaurants as a kind and loyal customer. Amongst family and community alike, his wry sense of humor and kindness will be deeply missed.
Bob's family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Zon's Beachside ALF along with the excellent care team from Meder Caretenders Hospice for their warmth and expertise this year.
Bob is survived by his big brother, Dr. Paul (Diana) Landry, niece Mary-Jo Gorton (child, Wyatt Gorton), nephew Michael Landry (child, Martin Landry), niece Catherine (Alex) Vinson (children, Nora and Hayes), cousin Susan Elliott, and sister-in-law Margie Landry (husband.
George, deceased).
Bob is deceased by his father and mother, Rene and Josephine Landry, and brother George Landry.
A memorial service will be held on June 3rd at 11 a.m. at Florida Memorial Gardens in Rockledge, Florida. All who knew Bob Landry are welcome to attend and celebrate his life.
