Ronald C Moyer, PhD
1938 - 2025
Dr. Ronald Clarence Moyer, Ron, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2025 at the age of 87. Ron was born on January 30, 1938 in Souderton, Pennsylvania to Clarence and Helen (Pat) Moyer. He was the eldest of three sons.
Ron was proud of his academic achievements. He graduated from Souderton High School in 1955 and went on to graduate from Muhlenberg College in 1960 with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. He later pursued his PhD in Organic Chemistry at Temple University, graduating in 1966, setting the foundation for a distinguished career as a chemist. His career led him to Rhode Island and later New York, where he took immense pride in advancing industrial innovation and serving as a role model for others in his field.
After a major career change and a move to New Jersey, he embraced a new calling as the proud owner of a Miracle Ear franchise. His love for people was exemplified by his kindness and a genuine desire to help, or at times, simply listen to their stories.
In retirement, Ron rediscovered his love for golf, forming lasting friendships at Jumping Brook Country Club and on vacation at Hilton Head Island. In 2016, he embraced a new chapter, settling in St. Petersburg, Florida, where he reaffirmed his faith and became an active member of St. Petersburg First United Methodist Church. His enthusiasm for life, deep love for children, and radiant smile continued to shine, leaving a lasting mark on all who knew him.
Ron is survived by his wife of 45 years, Dr. Maria Moyer, his brothers, Barry and Jerry Moyer, his daughters Joelle Moyer (Rich Lagasse) and Leanne Haselden (Bruce Haselden) and his stepsons, Andrew Sauer (Rebecca Cochrane) and William Sauer (Marybeth Allian Sauer). He is also survived by his five grandchildren: Tiana Kibbe, Peter Sauer, Anna Sauer, Katie Sauer, and Grace Sauer.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Moyer, his mother, Helen (Pat) Moyer, and his grandson, Caleb Sauer.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, to honor Ron’s love of the Lord and desire to help the less fortunate, contributions may be made to the Street Ministry Program at First United Methodist Church; 212 3rd St. N. St. Petersburg, FL 33701
A memorial service and reception will be held at First United Methodist Church in St Petersburg Florida on June 28, to be followed by a Celebration of Life in his hometown in Pennsylvania in August.
