Barbara Staley Grigg

Barbara Staley Grigg, 72, of Green Pond, SC, passed away peacefully at home on May 30, 2025, after a courageous six-year battle with dementia. She was surrounded by the love of her family in her final moments, just as she had surrounded them with love every day of her life.

Born on March 18, 1953, in Bangalore, India, Barbara was the daughter of Jackson and Elizabeth Staley. Her father, a civil engineer, was stationed there building hydroelectric dams. She spent her early years in North Miami, Florida before moving to South Carolina in the late 1980’s.

She married the love of her life, Jeff Grigg, and together they built a life that exemplified love, faithfulness, and laughter—one that continues to inspire all who knew them.

Barbara was known for her radiant smile, compassionate heart, and the way her laugh could light up a room. She had a quiet strength, a generous spirit, a love of reading and crochet, and a deep devotion to her family. She joined her husband in all of their pursuits—from boat racing to the Miata Club to flying—and treasured every moment spent with him and their extended family.

She was a loving wife, devoted mother, and proud grandmother, always ready with a hug, a kind word, or a shoulder to lean on. Her heart knew no bounds—she was a second mother to many of her daughters’ friends, offering comfort, warmth, and unwavering support.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Jeff Grigg; her daughter, Jaclyn Crosby, and her husband, Cory Crosby; her beloved granddaughter, Madelyn; her sister, Melissa Halpern-Rojas; and many nieces, nephews, and cherished friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, David Staley, and her sister, Laurielena Jones.

Memorial services will be held at Green Pond Baptist Church on Saturday, June 21st at 10AM. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
