Margaret B. Jones

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Margaret B. Jones, aged 76, who passed away on May 30, 2025, at Baystate Medical Center. Born on November 21, 1948, in Springfield, she was the daughter of Thomas J. Carney, Jr and Lucy (Payne) Carney.  She was raised in Springfield and moved to Belchertown, Massachusetts in 1978, where she resided until her passing.  

Peggy was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, cherished by her children: Scott Jones (Jason Tobiasz) of Belchertown, Timothy Jones (Catherine Caporale) of Tolland, CT and Melissa Laplante (Jeremiah) of Belchertown, MA. She was a proud grandmother to 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her life. Peggy is also survived by her brothers, Terry Carney (Lynn) of Belchertown and Mark Carney (Cathy) of Chicopee.  

Her family was the focal point of Peggy's life; she dedicated countless moments to spending time with them, especially during holidays. She was a passionate supporter of her grandchildren, attending their various sporting events with enthusiasm. Peggy's love for life extended beyond family; she had a particular fondness for NASCAR racing and adored the beach, creating cherished memories at both Hampton Beach and the Outer Banks. 

To celebrate her life, calling hours will be held on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home from 5:00 PM to 6:45 PM, followed by a closing prayer at 6:45 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society in her memory.
