Johnnie M. Honeycutt
1928 - 2025
With her family by her side, at the age of 96, Johnnie Melladene Parks Honeycutt took her last breath on earth, Monday morning, June 2, 2025. Johnnie was born on July 17, 1928, in Puckett Creek, VA. She was a proud 1947 graduate of St. Charles High School. Soon after graduation, she married a handsome soldier, “the best-looking guy in St. Charles”, and started her family. After moving to Kingsport with her family in 1951, Johnnie became a member of Morrison City Mission / Valley of Hope Baptist Church, and she served tirelessly as the treasurer for over four decades. Johnnie was a faithful, loving wife and partner to her husband, Darrell Honeycutt, for 67 years.
Johnnie was preceded in death by her parents, Van Buren and Lilly Parks; her husband, Darrell Honeycutt; brothers, Harold, Clyde, and Bill Parks; sisters, Stella Carter, and Lucille Peters; and sister-in-law, Faye Honeycutt Corbin.
Johnnie is survived by her three children, daughters, Cheryl Salaita (George), Cathy Stallard (Randy), and son, Steve Honeycutt (Sharon); six grandchildren, Jason Honeycutt, Jessica Shibley (Chris), Jennifer Habermas (Joel), Heather Glenfield (Nathan), Joshua Stallard (Nicole), and Stephanie Stallard; 12 great grandchildren, Nathan Honeycutt, Josiah, Caleb and Eleonora Shibley, Lydia, Anna Kate, Steven and Benjamin Habermas, Laurel and Micah Glenfield, and Augustus and Callahan Stallard; niece, Jeanne Lobb (Dan); grand nieces and nephews, Nick Lobb (Sarah), Rebecca Reynolds (Jason) and Mallory Bell (Blake); great grand nieces and nephews; Luke, Ava, Maggie Kate and Rhett Reynolds, Cora and Corbin Lobb, and Daisy Bell; and one brother, James Earl Parks of Miamisburg, Ohio.
A private family burial was conducted with Pastor Roger Vineyard officiating.
There will be a memorial service to honor Johnnie’s life on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at 1:00 pm with Pastors Wayne Baker and Joe Hill officiating at Valley of Hope Baptist Church, located at 2035 Gregory Road, Kingsport, TN. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, if you wish, a donation may be made to Cumberland Springs Bible Camp located at 234 Cumberland Springs Road, Dayton, TN 37321.
