John "Randy" Randolph Treadwell
January 1st, 1947 - May 24th, 2025
Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His Saints Psalms 116:15
On May 24, 2025, Randy went home to be with our Father God and our Lord and Savior Jesus.
Randy was born on January 1, 1947 in Bristol, Tennessee – Virginia to William H. Treadwell Jr. and Sarah Epperson. Randy was one of four children, an older brother Bill, a younger sister Teresa, and survived by a younger sister, Penny Treadwell Strickland.
Randy was an accomplished athlete. At Bristol Tennessee High School, he excelled as a quarterback and participated in the Tennessee State All-Star football game. He was recruited by Coach Jerry Claiborne to play football at Virginia Tech, where he received a scholarship and played all four years. During his tenure at Virginia Tech he participated in the Liberty Bowl games in 1966 and 1968.
Randy majored in mathematics and earned his bachelor's degree from Virginia Tech. While there, he met Sherry Ann Webb and they were married on June 28, 1969. Randy taught high school math for two years before transitioning to a career as a stockbroker at A.G. Edwards and Sons. At the age of 27, he achieved his CFP certification, becoming the youngest Certified Financial Planner in the state of Florida. He worked in his career for 45 years, considering it a calling and loving every moment of it.
Randy and Sherry were married for 55 years. They have a daughter, Tiffany Treadwell Lettelleir, a son, Christopher Brand Treadwell and a daughter-in-law, April Treadwell. Randy's legacy continues through his six grandchildren: Brittany, Ryan, Riley, Reece, Cambree, and Chase; and three great-grandchildren: Addison, Leighton, and Hudson. They have lived in Roanoke, VA; St. Petersburg, FL; North Redington Beach, FL; and Beech Mountain, NC during the summer months. Randy loved all sports, with college football, NASCAR, and golf being his favorites. He was an avid golfer.
Above all, Randy cherished his faith and his family. He was a devoted Christian, husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. His memory will live on in our hearts until we meet again.
