James D. Goodrich
April 21st, 1956 - June 1st, 2025
In Loving Memory
James Donald Goodrich, 69, of Irmo, South Carolina, passed away unexpectedly on June 1, 2025, at his residence in Irmo, South Carolina. He was born on April 21, 1956 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Raymond and Ruth (Casteel) Goodrich.
Jim grew up in Lakewood, Ohio and graduated from University of Akron with a Bachelor’s of Science in Natural Sciences in 1978. He was active in the university music program where he met his wife. They were married in Bowling Green, Ohio in 1978. He began his career at General Tire in Akron, Ohio. His career path took him to Danville, Kentucky where he worked for ATR Wire and Cable Company for 11 years. He completed his career path at Kiswire, Inc. in Prosperity, South Carolina with 18 years of service and retired as a plant manager.
Throughout his life, Jim has been a dedicated follower of Christ and an active member of Grace United Church of Christ in Uniontown, Ohio, Centenary United Methodist Church in Danville, Kentucky, and Grace United Methodist Church in Columbia, South Carolina. He was passionate about supporting the local community through the United Methodist Men ("Men Men Men") and a steadfast member of Chancel Choir for all of his churches. He served in many lay leadership roles within his churches and served as the President of Men Men Men (UMM) for several years. Jim was supportive of his wife and daughters through decades of Girl Scouting and was a registered Girl Scout himself.
His love of the outdoors extended primarily to boating, camping, and especially the beach. His often-voiced wish was to have his ashes scattered in the ocean by his family. Of all the things he accomplished and treasured, he regarded his position as "Da" and "PopPop" as the most prestigious.
Jim is survived by his wife of 46 years, Cindy (Rudolph); father, Raymond; siblings, David (Michelle) and Linda; children, Stephanie (John) Livingston, Jessica and Sarah; grandchildren, Evelyn (age 9), Spencer (age 7), and Parker (age 5); and many loving relatives near and far.
He was preceded in death by his mother Ruth Ann (Casteel).
A Memorial service will be at Grace United Methodist Church in Columbia on June 28th at 11am with Rev. Meg Cook officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Blessing Box Ministry of Grace United Methodist Church.
