Leland Ernest Deering
June 9th, 1936 - May 29th, 2025
Leland Deering of Colorado Springs, Colorado passed away peacefully on May 29, 2025 after a long battle with cancer. He was born on June 9, 1936 in Hartland, Maine to Carleton and Dorothy Deering.
Throughout his life, Leland “Lee” was known for his wisdom, love of music and unwavering work ethic. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
Professionally, Lee was a public servant, retiring as an accountant with the IRS after serving in the United States Air Force. He was stationed during the Vietnam War and received a Bronze Star. In his free time he enjoyed connecting with history, especially through his collections of stamps and coins and through the Hartland Maine Historical Society.
Lee is survived by his wife Theresa “Terry” Deering from Manchester, England; son, Carleton Deering; sister Priscilla Hallee, grandchildren Kathleen Berryman and Michael Deering and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers Phillip and Gordon Deering
We will celebrate his life at Pikes Peak National Cemetery on June 10th at 12pm, 10545 Drennan Road, Colorado Springs. A reception will follow at The Springs Funeral Home at 3115 East Platte Avenue at 1pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Rocky Mountain Cancer Center of Colorado Springs.
