Shirley M. Law
August 2nd, 1924 - June 3rd, 2025
Shirley Brown Law passed away peacefully on Monday, June 2, 2025, surrounded by her loving daughters. She was 100 years old, just two months shy of her 101st birthday.
Born on August 2, 1924, in Caldwell, Idaho, Shirley was the eldest child of George and Ada Thomas. She was preceded in death by her siblings Jane Ivy (Kenny), Jack Thomas (Florence), and Judy Tolmie (Hal), and is lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews.
Shirley proudly joined the U.S. Navy in 1944 during World War II. After her service, she returned to Boise where she met Floyd Brown. They married in 1951 and raised five daughters: Deborah Brown, Connie Olson (Eric), Linda Brown, Laurel Brown (Tony Gluch), and Dawn Hemphill (Bill). Floyd passed away in 1977.
In 1978, Shirley married Walt Law. Together they traveled the world, sharing adventures and companionship until his passing.
Later in life, Shirley met George Jones (not the singer), and the two shared a close and joyful bond. They enjoyed traveling together and rarely missed a Boise State University football game. George passed away in 2022 at the age of 97.
Shirley’s family brought her great joy. She is survived by her six grandchildren—Cassandra Fair, Chelsea Wright, Merynn Hemphill, Paul Richardson, Haley Gluch, and James Kubosumi—and five great-granddaughters.
A vibrant and spirited woman, Shirley loved belly dancing, tap dancing, knitting, sewing, reading, writing poetry, and especially winning at bingo. She was also a member of Daughters of the Nile. Music was always playing in her life, and she will be remembered for her warmth, creativity, and unwavering strength.
A service honoring Shirley’s life will be held on Monday, June 9, 2025, at 11:30 AM at Summers Funeral Home, 3629 E. Ustick Rd., Meridian, ID 83646. A graveside service will follow at 1:00 PM at Dry Creek Cemetery.
