Beers and Story - Belchertown
Frederick "Fred" A. Meyers
May 15th, 1937 - June 3rd, 2025
Frederick “Fred” A. Meyers, age 88, of Belchertown, MA, passed away on June 3, 2025. Born on May 15, 1937, in Hartford, Connecticut, he was the son of the late William and Sophie (Skiba) Myers. Fred was raised in Avon, Connecticut, where he lived most of his life and proudly served as a volunteer with the Avon Fire Department. For the past 20 years, he called Belchertown home, finding peace in its natural beauty and strong sense of community. He was a devoted father to Tammie Meyers of Middletown, CT; Christine Meyers of Ellington, CT; Constance Tassielli and her husband Nicholas of Charlestown, RI; and Tommy Meyers of Granby, CT. Fred was also a cherished grandfather to ten grandchildren and a proud great-grandfather to two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Francoise (Bessette) Pickrell; his daughter, Carol Baron; and his siblings Robert Meyers, Jason Myers, and Carole Briere. Fred spent much of his career working in construction for E.J. Haverty. After retirement, he found joy and tranquility working as a groundskeeper at Tunxis Country Club in Farmington, CT. He had a deep appreciation for nature, often fishing or taking peaceful walks at the Quabbin Reservoir. An adventurous and reflective soul, Fred loved country music and had a passion for history. He found joy in watching old home movies of his grandchildren and listening to “oldies” on his radio, always surrounded by memories and melodies that mattered most. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Fred’s life on Monday, June 30, 2025, at the Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home. A calling hour will be held from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 12:00 PM. Burial will follow at South Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Fred’s name to the Belchertown Senior Center, 60 State Street, Belchertown, MA 01007 — a place that reflects his caring nature and community spirit.
