"Fair winds and following seas"
Richard (Dick) W. Hanson, of Mission Viejo, was born on March 6, 1925 and died just short of his 100th birthday on October 24, 2024.
He served as Commander in the U.S. Navy and his second occupation was teaching at University High School in Irvine.
He died peacefully at home and his ashes were scattered at sea at Dana Point Harbor the day after his 100th birthday due to a storm.
That day his ashes were scattered, there was a rainbow in the sky toward the thunderclouds that had passed over the day before, spectacular!
Military helicopters were in the air and flew right over our boat! Even the pelicans cued up along the jetty in salute as we passed out of the harbor!
Dad would have been pleased!!
